Piapianissimo - Musical incantations

Musical-theatrical piece for children from the age of 5 years

Aiko Czetö - wizard
Leliko Gokieli - flute
Johanna Bastian - violin
Emilia Lomakova - violincello

When one day, while cleaning his magic chamber, wizard Walleboo discovers a mysterious book, he is quite astonished: it creaks, it moans, it hums, it sounds. In the otherwise silent magic chamber noises suddenly become sounds, sounds become melodies and Walleboo gets company by a quite easy-going cellist, a passionate flutist and a bourgeois violinist. Through them, Wallaboo discovers a certain magic that dispels the greyish haze of everyday life, that makes tired feet dance again and that shows him how beautifully marvellous life can be...
Musical incantations that invite people to imitate and to continue magic.

The Kurtág-telephone

Inspired by the musical piece “Phone numbers of our loved ones” by the Hungarian composer György Kurtág, in the year of 2015 Johanna Bastian developed the concept of a recordable phone. Through the receiver of an old rotary-dial phone the sound of piano music by Kurtág appears while each single number on the dial is assigned an individual note. In a playful way, people can try out the sounds of their own phone numbers or find out, which numbers have to be dialled in order to achieve the musical piece from the receiver. An attached phone book reveals further variations for the new instrument. Since October 2016 the Kurtág-telephone is on the road with the music van of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.
